ROLL TIDE
I have always been an Alabama Crimson Tide Fan. My Favorite Memories are of the Tide are on those fall afternoons
and nights sitting with my Dad in front of the radio.
John Forney and Doug Layton were larger than life as
they described everything to a tee. My favorite memory is of me and My Dad, Howard Fred Hornsby, in the living room
floor basking in the glory as Bama took it to Southern California unveiling the Wishbone. Come see Johnny run !!!!
That was topped in 92 as I was fortunate enough to see Bama dismantle the Mighty Hurricaines. Along side was my Uncle
Wallace and Doris Veazey, their son Mike and my Mother. My Oh My I still tear up thinking of that game. Long since
then I have lost my dad, my beloved Coach and many others, but the Passion for Bama is still there. Chills run up and
down as Bama takes the field regardless of the opponent. Now I spend most Saturdays with my Mom, Jamie Hornsby, My wife
Michele and my Son Justin...watching The Tide.
Of course as a fan I had my good luck pieces, be it a statue of
an Elephant or a Bama Football player, and I begin to collect unique things as the years passed.
My collection
of unique Memorabilia has continued to grow, as has my collection of Tide Rides. I developed this space to share those
with you. Click on the Photo Pages Left.
Enjoy and Roll Tide!!!!!!!!

WEEK 13...........THE IRON BOWL... Bama, in what was more or less a glorified scrimmage,
took care of the Ga. State Panthers to the tune of 63 – 7.
NOW.. Iron Bowl Week. The Iron Bowl – dubbed such because the game was once played at the
old Grey Lady (Legion Field) where half the Fans donned blue and orange and the other half clad in crimson and white.
Birmingham, once known for its steel mills and veins of Iron that run through Red Mountain, hosted many of Alabama’s
home games and a few of Auburns as well. Thus when the two met, the 50/50 ticket split made the Iron Bowl
one of the most heated rivalries in college football.
While most of that scenario
is no longer part of the tradition, the rivalry remains one of the most heated and discussed in the state, as well as in the
nation. This year, is even more the case.
Bama, last years National Champ, Auburn this year 2nd in the BCS undefeated and headed to the SEC Championship
game and eyeing the National Title. Bama was touted to be headed to Glendale fell victim to The SC Gamecocks and LSU, both road games. As
they square off, the Heisman Trophy candidate Cam Newton versus Mark Ingram, who displays last years trophy in his mothers
home in Michigan, are both hoping to lead their teams to victory.
PREDICTION – Bama to win, has to control the ball and keep Auburn’s powerful offense (scoring more than
40 a game) on the sideline. Bama will have to do something it has not done in big games all year….get
their running game going. Who would have thought that at this point Bama would be struggling running the
ball ? Not me … Cam Newton is a phenomenal player. Passing, running ….doesn’t
matter he can get it done.
Auburn is playing
better D this year, but .. has struggled to keep other teams from scoring… and gives up lots of passing yards.
Their D has been stingy in the second half all games, and the offense has flourished. I think another
key will be adjustments Bama makes at the half.

WEEK BAMA vs Ga StateBama's D and Big plays were front and center as Bama beat the Bullies 30-10. Big plays by Jones, Ingram
and Mays on offense and Lester had 2 big picks on D.
This week Bama takes on Ga State, a rare Thursday
Night game, first (if memory serves since 1992) time since Andrew blew in and caused games to be changed.
Ga State
has a familiar face at QB (Star Jackson) and at Head Coach, (former Bama Coach) Bill Curry. Bama should handle
this one without much ado. As a fan, I worry a bit ... because too many fans are so concerned about the NCAA and Cam
Newton, that you have to stretch to find out that Bama even has a game. None the less, ESPNU will be broadcasting
this one just 8 days before the Iron Bowl, Thursday at 6:30.
PREDICTION wow this one is difficult to pick...from
a score standpoint.... but
Bama 55 - Georgia State 10

WEEK 11 - BAMA vs Miss StateAt years beginning if you had told me I would be writing this as Bama has 2 losses I likely would have argued
with you. But Bama has now fallen in yet it's 2nd road loss of the season.. to the Tigers of LSU. 24 - 21.
I must admit, Bama seemed very flat for this road game, but played well enough for 3 quarters to win. But a couple of
missed assignments and a great call by the HAT and Bama finds itself on the end of another loss. Unless "A LOT"
of things happen perfectly, the Tide is out of the SEC Championship game and 3 more games to go.
Bama Vs Miss
State - Both teams posess a 7 - 2 Record. Bama is coming off the loss to LSU, Ms St is coming off an off week.
Bama is favored by as many as 14 in some venues. Bama has yet to put together a game where they have played
consistently on both offense and Defense . MS State ranked 17 and Bama 11.
Ms. State has a stingy defense
and it's O hasn't scored a lot of points but hasn't had too. Bama got shredded last week by LSU for over 200 yards on
the ground. MSU has rushed for over 200 in its last 5 games. ESPN2 is carrying this one, a 630 Kick.
PREDICTION
This late in the year who figured Bama would be searching for an identity , however it struggles running the ball and
is successful passing but can't seem to score.. and the D is simply not stopping opposing teams.
All has been very
quiet this week about this match-up as all eyes are on the Plains, with speculation about Cam and Ms State. I can't
help but believe this will make Bama more focused on the task at hand. I'm looking for the Tide to shine.

Week 9 for Bama 10 for FBS --BAMA TOOK CARE OF THE VOLS.. and after a week of headed to Cajun Country.
After a somewhat lackadaisical first half Bama seemed to get it's MoJo working in the 2nd half and managed to pull
away from the Vols to the tune of 41 to 10. Julio Jones had a record breaking day. Most impressive were the long
passes from McElroy.
Bama has had a week off (first of the year) to lick their wounds, and there are quiet a few. LSU
coming into this game with only a loss to Auburn, seems to be "READY" to face Alabama. Many articles I have
read say the players are looking forward to Bama and consider this the "BACK ON TRACK" game for the Tigers.
Bama on the other hand seems to be taking this as another step to the BCS NC game. And all the talking
heads put Bama in the NC game "IF" they win out.
LSU has a tough D (although Auburn ripped them for over
400 rushing yards) that has not allowed many points. Bama likewise has a stingy D. Bama seems to have more fire
power on Offense than the Tigers and that is what I see as the biggest difference in this game.
I think
it will be close until the 4th when Bama again finds the MOJO in Cajun Country and pulls away.
Prediction Bama 24 LSU 10
